Viivi's blunt and upfront nature has always made it difficult for her to keep friends. She has had an arduous home life with her fraternal twin Farryl and their drunken mother and her many boyfriends. Their mother is often passed out at any location that felt convenient in the house, while the many boyfriends have frequently physically abused Viivi. Farryl would gallantly attempt to protect her in vain. Viivi relieves a lot of her pent up frustration out on relatively innocent targets during school. This has resulted in giving her the reputation of someone who is rude, callous, and quick to push others away.

Farryl has been a regular target of bullying as well but tries to be an honourable and protective brother of Viivi. He is rather quiet, antisocial, and prefers to go unnoticed. Farryl enjoys spending a lot of time on the computer and reading to fuel his natural gift for absorbing a wealth of information and breezes through school exams with ease. He considers himself a good person who will always try to do the right thing for anyone in need.

At school Viivi has become an outcast that has developed a solitary nature. Her cloistered reputation has made it difficult for her to be around others. Such a reclusive attitude has resulted in becoming quickly and easily discomfort by fellow classmates and teachers, leaving her as a prime target for bullies. Despite the nature of his faults, Farryl has a few close friends that he keeps in touch with at school and speaks to regularly. Farryl does his best to distract the bullies and bribe them within his limited resources while Viivi chooses to confront her bullies directly, and, while not a push over, her short temper can often lead to confronting insurmountable odds. Viivi keeps herself emotionally guarded from all others, even a bit towards Farryl.
