As graduation approaches, Viivi still refuses to return to school. Farryl invites Viivi to his graduation ceremony and Viivi refuses with resented malice in her tone. Seeing Farryl's great distraught turbulence and guilty with the need to help cheer him up from her poor behaviour, Hailey offers to wear his favourite dress for him. This dress always reminds Farryl of the smile Hailey showed him at the end of their first date. She also inquires how Viivi is doing and if she will attend the ceremony. Farryl bemoans that she won't be attending and continues on to lament about what kind of person Viivi has transformed into. Hailey expresses genuine sadness for Farryl's situation and also Viivi's inability to graduate along with them. Hailey finally admits that when Farryl is away, Hailey also grieves the self-destruction and inner turmoil that Viivi suffers through as Hailey's fault. Farryl refuses to allow Hailey to think such thoughts but his failure to change her mind quickly shows to be a futile effort.
Before the graduation ceremony, Farryl, Hailey and a few of their newly acquired friends go to eat together prior to the ceremony. Viivi's absence leaves Hailey remorsefully emotional and Farryl holds her hand in comfort. Their friends remark at how lovely of a couple that they look together. Farryl and Hailey feel a little embarrassed but insist the picture always feels incomplete when Viivi is absent.
Viivi, in her accustomed routine, wakes up in the mid-afternoon and realises that it is the day of the graduation that Farryl has been pleading her to join him for. Racked with guilt for how little she has done for Farryl, she goes through several dresses before she is able to fine one that is able to fit her newer, lazier body. After her struggle to get dressed, she goes off to watch Farryl's graduation.
Viivi feels cautious and hesitant going to her school that has given her so much trauma and grief. After a brief time of hiding and beginning to notice that she is not being recognized by those who have seen her, she musters her courage to push herself towards the ceremony. Viivi finally discovers Farryl and, to her shock, he is holding Hailey's hand. Tears begin to fill Viivi’s eyes and she immediately turns around and abruptly leaves the ceremony. Her blind sorrow leads her to the parking lot that she will never forget. Of all the beatings she has received in her life, this one was one she had the deepest scar and was still recovering from to that day. A library of emotions rushes through Viivi takes control of her emotional locomotion with the memory of Hailey seeing her beaten up in the very same parking lot. The tears of her sorrow bring to her a sudden realization of what kind of a person Hailey is. Viivi compared herself to Hailey: how attractive she is, how much slimmer she is, how pleasant and caring of a person she is, and her superior fashion sense. Viivi becomes overwrought with jealousy of Hailey and conquered by a furious envy. Viivi insisted in her cries to the skies an answer of why someone so superior would do such a painful thing to her.
