With the heat of the summer also brings in some one of the hottest shows that celebrates back to the earliest days of arcade and pinball gaming. That show is Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo. For those not familiar with SFGE, it is a convention that celebrates pinball games, arcade games, tabletop gaming, indies and much more. It is a great convention with plenty to enjoy for gamers of all kinds. Especially for those who live in the area, it is highly recommended to check it out

Elemensional Rift came to show off not just the changes and celebrate opening early access, but also giving rigorous testing of some of the recently added features. These recent additions and game balances gave a bit more impact and fresh feeling to the bigger impacts within the game. For former SFGE attendees that missed the other shows throughout the year, this was SFGE’s first taste of the final two siblings of the base roster, Hina and ‘Zieque. The arcade mode also got to show great refinement since the previous showing and there was great appreciation for it as the arcade mode was by far the most played mode at the show.

Now for the part that some are highly excited about, the stats of the show. Total freeplay gameplay sessions grew by over an additional third over last year’s sessions. There was a very close race for the top three in usage. Each of them had an average appearance of being in over 30% of battles. Crispy B., Neon, and Otagaz all held a fierce race with less than 10% difference between all three. On the opposite side of the spectrum, Mana and Psyren were tied for lowest usage, with ‘Zieque and Mr. Bishounen not far behind either. For the win count, Crispy B. continues to maintain a significant lead. Otagaz, Zanipher, and Neon were all close to eachother fighting for second place. From the other side of the spectrum, the high learning curve of Mr. Bishounen’s counter heavy approach to battle kept him at the fewest number of wins.
